Amy + Jesse : Wedding : Moli’i Gardens Part Three

The reception was more like a dance party with non-stop action on the dance floor.  With tons of carnival food (popcorn, peanuts, cotton candy, and corn on the cob!) and vegetarian treats, no one was going hungry at this wedding.  Amy’s good friend Kristina of Rise Up Cakes made all vegan cupcakes and of course the cake.  It was all so delicious.

A lot of hard work and love were put into this wedding.  All the painted items, fabrics, balloons, and details were hand made by Amy, Jesse, and friends.

I am really happy I got to be a part of this day and proud to hang my wedding hat up on this one.   The baby is due in a few weeks and I am totally ready for a little family time.

I have already been booking up 2010 and looking forward to getting back in the saddle in May.  Between now and then, I will still be “in the office” but taking a break from on location work.  I will also be updating the blog with the few underwater sessions I have in the works and of course baby news!

Furlough Friday : Personal : Waikiki Beach

For those of you who don’t  live in Hawaii, you may not have heard of “Furlough Fridays”.  As a parent trying to see the glass half full, I have decided to take full advantage of these extra 17 days with my boys home from school by having “Fun Fridays”.

Here are a few articles:

Unlike the majority of people quoted in the media, I don’t think my kids are going to be less prepared for life by missing school, in fact I welcome the break of routine and authority.

I hope that by being home and out on our excursions, my kids will learn that there is education outside of the classroom.  In the next few weeks I plan to take them on hikes, an art museum or two, snorkeling, and at least one trip to zoo (where Mr.L wants to have his birthday in the tiger cage with the baby tigers!).

Here is a little of our first of many Fun Fridays.

Only about 7 more weeks before the baby is due.  I am starting to feel the waddle everywhere I go.  I see myself spending lots more time in the water with my new housing.  :)

back to NY

Because I seem to have severe heart burn (damn you Pizza Hut!) and I can’t sleep, I am posting again.   As my NY wedding was a “destination wedding“, I hadn’t really ever met the bride and groom in person.  I flew in a day early and got to hang out with Tim’s side of the family.  It was a great ice breaker for the next day.  Make sure you check out my second shooter Rachel’s post of the groomsmen in Long Island.  They are some silly out takes on the wedding day!

lots of firsts

The last 2 weeks have been full of many firsts for my family and I. :) 1st time to New York & New Jersey1st time being in a basement1st time shooting a dry wedding1st time eating a gyro1st time waking up at 3 am Hawaii time for a job1st time going to my own groom’s stag night1st time not cooking for over a weekTim “the Aussie” and Sarah “the Long Island girl” were married at the most quaint church in Stoney Brook and celebrated their union at a beautiful golf club. Although I was told that it was a typical Long Island wedding, it was the people and the spirit of the day that made this a truly unique event.Special thanks to my family for following me across an ocean and a continent for a job, Rachel for driving all the way up from Boston to second shoot for me, Fiona for the word of mouth recommendation, and Tim and Sarah for trusting me to capture the first day of a long and happy life together.
