Jessica + James : Wedding : Four Seasons + Hilton Waikoloa

This wedding is one of the reasons why I love shooting in Kona.  The locations are so spectacular and unique. I would consider moving there if I didn’t have such a big family to uproot.

Jessica the bride is a Big Island girl. Her mom works at the Hilton and her dad runs the Four Seasons‘ golf course.  Both locations scream “Get married here!” so that is exactly what she did.

A special thank you to Jessica’s parents for being such gracious hosts.  My family and I had a blast playing in the pools at Hilton Waikoloa.

Amanda + Joe : Just Married : Waimanalo Beach

This wedding season is in full bloom here on Hawaii. I am really enjoying being back in my creative saddle. This is my first season with a baby and it is proving to be a challenge. Not only am I doing my regular checklists of gear, contracts, and timelines, but I am also doing a personal checklist.  Before going to a wedding I have to prep for weeks, booking rental cars and flights, pumping milk for the baby, and making sure my kids are all taken care of.  Life is crazy but I am loving every moment of it.

Here is a wedding that I was a little nervous about shooting. It was my first 6 hour day away from the baby and I was SO scared he would wilt away and die without me. Luckily, my couple, Amanda and Joe were AWESOME and my hubby did great with the baby.  All my preparations paid off and everyone had a stellar day.

Amanda got her hair did at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel’s spa Abhasa.  It had such a relaxing zen feeling and was the perfect way to start the day.

After some final touches at the Hilton Prince Kuhio, we were off to the beach in Waimanalo on Oahu’s South east side.  The weather was perfect with a constant breeze.

I just love Amanda’s full sleeve!

Congrats to you, Joe and Amanda!  I had a great time just enjoying the first hours as man and wife with you.

xoxo, Marina

KB + Manolo: Day After Session : Waikiki

We are back from a trip to LA and a weekend on the Big Island. Looks like I’ll be back in Kona in two weeks for another double day wedding. Other places I have booked weddings for 2010: Kona Village Resort x2, Na Aina Kai on Kauai, and Kapalua Maui.

My kids are out of school for summer starting next week.  Thank God for summer fun.  Could you imagine me with 4 kids 24/7 for two months straight?!!! I would go mental… and I would spend a lot more time at the beach.  :)

Here is day two of the most romantic and personal wedding ever.  This time, Manolo and KB headed out to waters of Waikiki for a lei exchange and more vows.  I had water in my ears, so I didn’t hear much.

They also set up a GOPro Hero HD video camera.  I SO want one of these!

Thanks Manolo and KB for having me document your amazing first days as a married couple.

xoxo, Marina

KB + Manolo : Wedding : North Shore, Oahu

So.  I am blogging on the road for the first time EVER!  I figured I need to step up my game if I am going to keep up with all the wedding and sessions I have scheduled, let alone my normal posts about how awesome  my boys and Hawaii are.

Currently, we are in or near Carlsbad (I don’t plan these things) on a two day trip to Legoland.  If you ever met my kids, you would know that legos are life. Lego this, lego that.  Do you even know what a rock monster is?!  Serious obsession going on here.  The up side is that Mr.TJ, at the ripe age of 9, is  in total student mode, learning from the lego master builders.  Today I caught him counting legos on a miniature hotel in the Las Vegas display.  He is in awe of the huge builds and I am happy to see something really spark in him.

And now for something I am passionate about, the setting, the mood, the people, the love, everything weddings.

My first wedding of 2010 was very personal, intimate, and nontraditional.  I was really happy that I was available to witness the marriage of Manolo and KB.  I was the witness on paper and in heart.  This was the perfect way for me to get excited about the full year of weddings ahead of me.  It felt good to get back to basics, man and wife. Love is a powerful thing.

And they totally went surfing a few days later.  I photographed that too…
