Jessica + Derek : TTD Contest Winners : Honolulu

Here is a sneak peek at one of the most fun sessions I have had in a long time.  It was a relief to have zero expectations or pressure for a change of pace.  The most stressful thing on this shoot was the constant threat of rain on this wonderful gloomy day.

Jessica and Derek are the winners of my Second Annual TTD Photo Session.  What really made me consider them was the fact that they hadn’t budgeted time or money for a seasoned wedding photographer on their wedding day.  One thing I can not say enough is that other then your memories and loved ones, the photos are really the only thing you have to remember such a small moment in time.  Wedding photos are worth the time and effort.

These were all taken within a one block radius of one of the most beautiful and historic areas of Downtown Honolulu.

One crazy hot wedding!

Last weekend, I photographed some amazing style, one part fashion show, two parts wedding. There was never a dull moment on Kanoe and Justin’s wedding day.

Kanoe, daughter of China Uemura , is what I would call a fashionista. Every detail, from her toes (Gucci!) to her hair (pink!) were rocking. I was so in love with her dress and all her bride’s maids!

The groom was a really nice guy I have know for over 20 years. [Scary, I can say I have known people that long now!] Justin wore some sweet brown and white checked Vans slip-ons. I would have worn some too, but I prefer to go barefoot at the beach. Also, if this guy looks familiar, it is because he is in OLIVIA the Band.

Thanks to Kanoe and Justin for letting me be a part of your very rad wedding!

xoxo, Marina

TTD contest winner session

My brand spanking new Nikon D3 arrived just in time for my “Trash the Dress” session with winner Kate from Seattle. We met up in Waikiki and drove to a few stunning locations in the south east corner of O’ahu.

Her dress was still in great condition from her wedding day, but now may need a good cleaning to get the salt and sand out! Thanks again Kate for being such a daring bride.

xoxo, Marina

the San Francisco treat

Rachel and Ali’s wedding this past weekend was AMAZING. Hands down the most interesting and crazy event I have had the privledge of photographing.

Early in the day we had a session in San Francisco’s Chinatown, then we were off to the Bentley Reserve for a traditional Persian ceremony and a feast of a reception.

Prints will be available for purchase by the 15th on the print site.

A special thanks to Terry Chay. Terry is a resident in San Francisco and he graciously loaned me his Nikon D3 for the day. I must say that am so impressed with that camera. The low light capabilities were unbelievable. i actually took my flash off of my camera, for the reception. ;)
