Shirin and Tom were married Saturday on the North Shore of Kauai. Jason and I flew over a few hours early to get lunch on our way up to the location, Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens.
We were warned that there had been a traffic accident and that the major road (a two lane highway) was closed. Our hearts go out to the two families that were greatly effected by the crash.
Getting to the wedding was going to take longer then expected. We made the most of our detour (the Waialua Golf Course) and made it up to Kilauea in plenty of time. When we arrived I was relieved to hear from Deanna of I Do Weddings that all the vendors and guests had arrived safely.
Shirin got ready at the Residence, a beautiful home overlooking the ocean.

One pair for the beach ceremony, one pair for the reception. I encourage ALL Hawaii brides to bring 2 pairs of shoes to the wedding.

Shirin had her hair and make-up done by Blue Sky Styling. Be sure to check out the “Updon’ts” section.

We rode the shuttle down to the ceremony site on the beach.
The groom was dapper in his Zegna suit. After all, what else would expect from the star of this sophisticated commercial. Yes, Thomas is an accomplished writer and actor. He is also so, so, so very in love with Shirin!

Shirin and Tom had a Bahá’í ceremony. It is much more spiritual then formal. They had members of their family and close friends do readings of their own choosing. Everything spoken was truly from the heart.

This is my favorite part of Na Aina Kai, the Hardwood Plantation.

The amazing work of Martin Roberts Design was prevalent throughout the reception area. I was absolutely thrilled with the simple elegance of all the details.

Congrats to Shirin and Tom! Thank you for having us capture your amazing day. Have a great adventurous honeymoon!!!!
xoxo, Marina

One thing I love about Kona Village Resort, it is totally native.
Such a great “first look”. The

Kate’s parents got married at the Kona Village Resort 26 years ago. They have wedding portraits under this same tree.
